OHS ACT, REGULATIONS AND CODE UPDATES
Stay tuned, all our courses are currently being updated and will be ready for delivery in-house or classroom by second week of June. The eLearning for Module 3 – Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committees and/or Health and Safety Representatives is first in line for updating for eLearning as well as this comes into effect June 1, 2018.
If you have taken the Module 3 – JWSHSC Training within the last two months, please know that once the new up-to-date version is available you it will be made available, so you can ensure you have all critical information and your company in compliance. The training must meet the Government criteria if we want to be an approved trainer for committees.
Thank you for your patience waiting for all these updates. We have updated the classroom version of our Module 1 & 12 frequently throughout the last four months so there will not be a huge gap for the final updates we still need to complete but have not received the information from the Government. We anticipate after our meeting on May 31st we will have sufficient information to finish off all course updates.
Due to costs and programming time, it will take a few months to have Module 1 updated for eLearning however, we have it in the classroom.
By later in June, we will have an “Employer Update” course ready to deliver which will include all legislation updates and what these updates mean to employers’ occupational health and safety management systems. We will also include updates required to meet the new Partnerships Audit tool that comes into effect January 1, 2019. This training will be delivered by web as well as classroom.
AASP will also have a classroom course ready for delivery in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer and Lethbridge for employers that are not currently in the COR program but still are required to meet the new legislative requirements. This course will be facilitated by Grant Henneberg, a senior safety specialist from Calgary.
Please watch our web site for date postings. Again, thank you for being patient, we are working hard so you can have the information as soon as it is available.
AASP will be submitting their training courses for JWSHSC/HSR to Alberta Government to become an approved trainer for committees.
The Alberta government has made available a free introductory course to guide employers understand the requirements to establish a Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee
