HOW TO FIND THE SAFETY LEADER WITHIN
The need for leaders and real leadership in health and safety continues to grow. People mistakenly think that leadership is the distinct and exclusive domain of the hierarchical leaders – the people at the top of the organization. In reality, we all have the potential and opportunity to be safety leaders. In fact if we are ever to really manage risk and stop the tragedy of workplace fatalities, we all need to take our rightful place as safety leaders.

In this session, the idea of safety leadership distinct from corporate or hierarchical organizational leadership will be discussed. The session focus is on safety leadership and is presented in the context of safety ownership.
The most common leadership styles will be explored. The safety leadership styles that have the greatest potential to solve this problem will be highlighted. A strategy for change will be offered so that all participants can take away an action plan for taking ownership for their own safety and providing safety leadership in their workplaces.
